  3. Install battery: Connect red (+) then black (-) terminals.
  4. Add engine oil: Use SAE 30 (approx. 1.5 quarts).
  5. Fill fuel tank: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).
  6. Check tire pressure: Inflate to 10 PSI (front) and 14 PSI (rear).

WARNING! Mower is heavy; use assistance during assembly. Ensure all bolts are tightened securely.

Controls and Operation

Familiarize yourself with controls before starting.

  1. Pre-start check: Ensure PTO is disengaged, lap bars in neutral, parking brake set.
  2. Starting: Insert key, turn to ON, set choke (if cold), turn to START.
  3. Engage blades: Pull PTO switch upward while engine is running.
  4. Steering: Push both lap bars forward to go straight. To turn, slow one side while maintaining speed on the other.

Specifications

Cutting & Performance

For optimal cutting results, follow these guidelines.

  1. Adjust cutting height: Use lever on each rear wheel to set desired height.
  2. Mowing pattern: Overlap each pass by 2-3 inches for even cut.
  3. Slope operation: Mow across slopes, not up and down. Avoid slopes greater than 15 degrees.
  4. Tall grass: Cut in stages, raising deck for first pass, then lowering for final cut.
  5. Bagging: Attach grass bagger; empty when ¾ full to maintain airflow.

Tip: Keep blades sharp for clean cuts and reduced engine strain.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures longevity and performance.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck oil level, tire pressure, fuel level, and for debris under deck.
Every 8 hoursCheck battery terminals and clean air filter.
Every 25 hoursChange engine oil (first change at 5 hours).
Every 50 hoursReplace air filter, spark plug, and check belt tension.
Every 100 hoursChange hydrostatic transmission fluid (if serviceable).
SeasonallySharpen or replace blades, grease fittings, check tire wear.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Run engine to warm oil, then drain and refill with fresh oil.
  2. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  3. Disconnect battery negative terminal; store battery in cool, dry place.
  4. Clean underside of deck thoroughly to remove grass and moisture.
  5. Store in a dry, covered area, preferably on a level surface.

WARNING! Never store with fuel in tank without stabilizer. Gasoline degrades over time.

Safety Features

Operator Presence System (OPS): Engine stops if operator leaves seat with PTO engaged. Parking Brake: Must be engaged to start engine. Blade Brake Clutch (BBC): Stops blades within 3 seconds of PTO disengagement.

Care & Cleaning

Allow engine to cool before cleaning. Use a brush or damp cloth to remove grass and dirt. Hose down deck underside after each use (avoid electrical components).

CAUTION! Do not use high-pressure water on engine or electrical parts. Never clean while engine is running.
