Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

Before Each Use: Check engine oil level, tire pressure, and fuel level. Inspect blades for damage.

Every 8 Hours: Check battery terminals for corrosion.

Every 25 Hours: Change engine oil (first change at 5 hours), check air filter, lubricate pivot points.

Every 50 Hours: Replace spark plug, check drive belt tension.

Every 100 Hours: Change hydrostatic fluid and filter (if equipped), sharpen or replace blades.

Seasonally: Clean deck, check tire pressure, inspect for loose hardware.

Cutting Deck Adjustment

Adjust cutting height to match grass conditions.

  1. Park on level surface, turn off engine, engage parking brake.
  2. Locate deck lift lever on right side of mower.
  3. Move lever to desired height setting (1.5 to 4.5 inches).
  4. Check level: Measure distance from ground to blade tips on both sides; adjust if necessary using deck leveling rods.

Tip: For best results, never cut more than 1/3 of grass blade length at one time.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to tank and run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Change engine oil and filter.
  3. Remove spark plug, add 1 tablespoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter cord slowly to coat, reinstall plug.
  4. Clean underside of deck thoroughly.
  5. Store in dry, covered area; consider using a mower cover.
  6. Disconnect battery negative terminal if storing for extended period.

WARNING! Never store mower with fuel in tank without stabilizer. Gasoline can degrade and damage engine.

Safety Guidelines

Always follow safety precautions to prevent injury.
