Engine Care

  1. Oil Change: Run engine to warm oil. Drain via drain plug into pan. Refill with recommended oil to proper level on dipstick.
  2. Air Filter: Remove cover, clean foam pre-cleaner (if equipped), replace paper element if dirty.
  3. Spark Plug: Disconnect wire, clean area, remove plug. Check gap, replace if worn or fouled.
  4. Fuel System: Use fresh, clean gasoline. Add fuel stabilizer for storage. Replace fuel filter annually.

Tip: Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing any maintenance near blades or engine.

Cutting Deck Adjustment

For an even cut, ensure deck is level side-to-side and front-to-back.

  1. Park on level surface. Set cutting height to middle position.
  2. Measure distance from blade tip to ground on left and right sides.
  3. Adjust leveling nuts on deck hangers to equalize measurements.
  4. Measure front blade tip height. It should be 1/8" to 1/4" lower than rear.
  5. Adjust front hanger to set proper pitch.

WARNING! Disengage PTO and remove ignition key before working under deck. Block wheels securely.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Clean entire mower, especially under deck.
  2. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  3. Change engine oil and filter.
  4. Remove battery, clean terminals, store in cool, dry place on a trickle charger.
  5. Store in a clean, dry location, preferably covered.

CAUTION! Do not store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer. Gasoline can degrade and damage engine.
