Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Clear area: Remove debris, rocks, or obstacles from path.
  2. Fuel safety: Refuel outdoors, engine off and cool. Use fresh gasoline.
  3. Operation: Keep hands and feet away from moving parts. Do not override safety controls.
  4. Children/pets: Keep clear of operating area.

WARNING! Risk of injury from rotating auger. Never attempt to clear clog while engine is running. Disconnect spark plug before maintenance.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Handle assembly: Attach upper handle to lower frame using provided bolts.
  2. Chute assembly: Install discharge chute and deflector, secure with pins.
  3. Controls: Connect control cables for auger engagement and chute rotation.
  4. Add oil and fuel: Refer to engine manual for proper oil type and fuel.
  5. Check tire pressure: Inflate to recommended PSI (see sidewall).

CAUTION! Ensure all bolts are tightened securely. Test controls before starting engine.

Controls and Operation

Control panel located on handle. Electric start key switch, auger engagement lever, chute control, speed selector, and steering controls.

Starting: Insert key, turn to ON. For electric start, turn to START. For manual start, pull recoil cord. Operation: Select speed (1-6 forward, R1-R2 reverse). Engage auger lever to begin snow removal. Use chute control to direct snow. Shutdown: Disengage auger, turn key to OFF, remove key.

Adjustments: Skid shoes for clearance height, drift cutters for side clearance, scraper bar for surface contact.

Specifications

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Before each use: Check oil level, tire pressure, controls, and fasteners.
  2. After each use: Clean snow and debris from machine. Inspect auger and impeller for damage.
  3. Every 25 hours: Change engine oil (refer to engine manual).
  4. Every 50 hours: Check drive belt tension, lubricate control cables and pivot points.
  5. Seasonally: Replace spark plug, check shear pins, inspect scraper bar and skid shoes.

Tip: Keep a maintenance log to track service intervals.

Engine Care

Refer to separate engine manual for detailed instructions.

  1. Oil: Use SAE 5W-30 synthetic or as recommended. Check level with dipstick.
  2. Fuel: Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with no more than 10% ethanol. Add fuel stabilizer for storage.
  3. Air filter: Clean or replace as needed to maintain engine performance.
  4. Spark plug: Replace annually or every 100 hours with recommended type.
  5. Winter operation: Allow engine to warm up at half throttle for 2-3 minutes.

WARNING! Engine components are hot during/after operation. Allow to cool before servicing.

Auger & Impeller System

Two-stage system: Auger gathers snow, impeller throws it through chute.

  1. Shear pins: Protect auger from obstructions. Replace if broken (use only Ariens shear pins).
  2. Auger lubrication: Grease auger shaft bearings at start of season and every 25 hours.
  3. Impeller inspection: Check for wear or damage to rubber paddles.
  4. Belt inspection: Check drive and auger belts for wear, cracks, or looseness.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug before inspecting or replacing auger/impeller components.

Storage & Off-Season Care

Proper storage prevents corrosion and ensures ready operation next season.

  1. Fuel: Run engine dry or add fuel stabilizer. Run for 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Oil: Change oil at end of season if not done recently.
  3. Clean: Thoroughly clean entire machine, removing all snow, salt, and debris.
  4. Lubricate: Apply light oil to all exposed metal parts and control cables.
  5. Store: Keep in dry, covered area. Protect from moisture and rodents.

Tip: Engage auger clutch during storage to relieve spring tension.
