Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operation.

  1. Always wear appropriate safety gear: eye protection, hearing protection, sturdy footwear.
  2. Clear mowing area of debris, rocks, and other obstacles before operation.
  3. Do not operate on slopes greater than 15 degrees; mow across slopes, not up and down.
  4. Keep hands and feet away from moving parts and cutting deck during operation.
  5. Never allow children or untrained persons to operate the mower.

WARNING! Disengage blades, set parking brake, turn off engine, and remove key before performing any maintenance or clearing blockages.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Install steering control levers: Attach lap bars to hydrostatic pump arms using provided pins.
  2. Attach seat: Mount seat bracket to frame, secure with bolts, adjust tension for operator weight.
  3. Install battery: Connect red (+) cable first, then black (-) cable, secure with hold-down clamp.
  4. Add engine oil and fuel: Use SAE 10W-30 oil (check dipstick); fill with unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).
  5. Check tire pressure: Inflate all tires to 14 PSI (front) and 10 PSI (rear).

CAUTION! Ensure all bolts are tightened to specified torque. Check for loose parts before first use.

Controls & Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Control Panel: Ignition key switch, PTO engagement switch, choke (if equipped), hour meter, headlight switch.

Steering Controls: Lap bars control speed and direction: push forward to go forward, pull back to reverse, neutral position in center. Left bar controls left wheel, right bar controls right wheel.

Starting Procedure: Sit in seat, set parking brake, move lap bars to neutral, engage choke (cold engine), turn key to START. Release key to RUN position once engine starts.

Mowing Operation: Disengage parking brake, slowly move lap bars forward to begin movement. Engage PTO switch to start blades. Use overlapping passes for even cut.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck tire pressure, inspect for loose bolts, check oil level
First 5 hoursChange engine oil and filter (break-in period)
Every 50 hoursChange engine oil, check air filter, lubricate spindles and pivot points
Every 100 hoursReplace air filter, spark plug, check drive belt tension
Every 200 hoursChange hydrostatic transmission fluid and filter

Cutting Deck Adjustment

Proper deck leveling ensures even cutting height.

  1. Park on level surface, disengage PTO, set parking brake.
  2. Measure cutting height at all four corners of deck using ruler.
  3. Adjust front height: Turn adjustment nuts on front lift links to raise/lower front of deck.
  4. Adjust rear height: Turn adjustment nuts on rear lift links for rear leveling.
  5. Re-measure after adjustments; all corners should be within 1/4" of each other.
  6. Check anti-scalp roller height: Adjust so rollers contact ground before deck scalp.

Tip: Always level deck on concrete surface for accuracy.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Clean entire mower thoroughly, especially under deck.
  2. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine for 5 minutes to circulate treated fuel.
  3. Change engine oil and filter at end of season.
  4. Remove battery, clean terminals, store in cool dry place with periodic charging.
  5. Store in dry, covered location; avoid direct sunlight on tires.

CAUTION! Never store with gasoline in carburetor without stabilizer; drain fuel if storing longer than 30 days.
