Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Handle Assembly: Attach upper handle to lower handle using provided bolts.
  2. Chute Assembly: Install discharge chute and secure with knob.
  3. Controls: Connect chute control cables and adjust for proper operation.
  4. Add Oil & Fuel: Fill engine with SAE 5W-30 synthetic oil. Add fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).
  5. Check Tire Pressure: Inflate tires to 20 PSI.

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug wire during assembly to prevent accidental starting. Ensure all fasteners are tight.

Controls and Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting.

  1. Starting: Turn key to ON. Engage choke if cold. Turn key to START. Use recoil if battery is weak.
  2. Drive Control: Squeeze lever to engage wheel drive. Release to stop.
  3. Auger Control: Squeeze lever to engage auger rotation. Release to stop.
  4. Speed Selection: Use shift lever to choose forward (1-6) or reverse (R1, R2) speed.
  5. Steering: Use handlebar pressure to activate power steering assist.
  6. Chute Direction: Rotate chute control knob to change discharge direction.
  7. Chute Pitch: Use separate lever to adjust snow trajectory distance.

CAUTION! Never put hands or feet near rotating auger. Keep bystanders away.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures longevity and performance.

IntervalTask
Before Each UseCheck tire pressure, inspect auger shear pins, check controls operation
First 5 HoursChange engine oil (break-in)
Every SeasonChange engine oil, check spark plug, lubricate control cables and pivot points
Every 25 HoursChange engine oil, inspect drive belt and auger belt, check scraper bar
Every 50 HoursReplace spark plug, check tire tread, inspect all cables
Every 100 HoursReplace fuel filter, check valve clearance (refer to engine manual)

Engine Care (EFI System)

The EFI system requires minimal maintenance but proper fuel care is critical.

  1. Fuel: Use fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Add fuel stabilizer if storing over 30 days.
  2. Oil: Use SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil. Check level when engine is cold on level ground.
  3. Air Filter: Inspect foam pre-filter regularly. Clean with soapy water if dirty. Replace paper filter element annually.
  4. Spark Plug: Use Champion RC12YC. Gap to 0.030".
  5. EFI System: Do not attempt to service injector or pump. Contact authorized service for EFI issues.

WARNING! Never use E85 fuel. It will damage the EFI system.

Auger & Drive System

Keep auger and drive systems in good working order.

  1. Shear Pins: Protect auger from jams. If auger stops turning, check and replace broken shear pins (1/4" x 2-1/4" cotter pins).
  2. Belt Tension: Inspect auger and drive belts for wear/cracks. Adjust tension if slipping occurs.
  3. Scraper Bar: Inspect for wear. Reverse or replace when worn to less than 1/4" thickness.
  4. Skid Shoes: Adjust height to control clearance between scraper bar and ground.
  5. Lubrication: Grease auger shaft bearings and chute pivot points at start of season.

Storage & Off-Season Care

Proper storage prevents corrosion and fuel system issues.

  1. Run engine to warm oil, then drain and refill with fresh oil.
  2. Add fuel stabilizer to gas tank and run engine for 5 minutes to circulate stabilized fuel through EFI system.
  3. Disconnect spark plug wire. Clean entire machine, removing all snow, dirt, and salt residue.
  4. Spray exposed metal surfaces (auger, chute) with silicone spray to prevent rust.
  5. Store in a clean, dry place. Engage auger control and drive control to release cable tension.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in the tank without stabilizer. Gummed fuel will clog the EFI injector.

Safety Information

Read and understand all safety labels on the machine.

Warranty & Support

Ariens Deluxe 30 EFI comes with a 3-year limited warranty for residential use. The EFI components have a 5-year warranty. Proof of purchase is required. For technical support, parts, or service location:
