Safety Information

Read all safety instructions before operating. Wear appropriate protective gear.

  1. Clear area: Remove objects that could be thrown by the auger.
  2. Fuel safety: Refuel outdoors, engine off and cool. Use fresh gasoline.
  3. Operation: Keep hands and feet away from moving parts. Do not override safety controls.
  4. Children/pets: Keep away during operation.

WARNING! Risk of fire, explosion, or injury. Never operate in enclosed spaces. Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

Installation & Setup

Assemble according to included instructions. Check all fasteners.

  1. Add oil: Use SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 detergent oil. Fill to mark on dipstick.
  2. Add fuel: Use unleaded gasoline with minimum 87 octane. Do not use E85.
  3. Connect battery (if electric start): Attach cables, red to positive, black to negative.
  4. Adjust controls: Ensure throttle, choke, and drive controls operate smoothly.

CAUTION! Engine is heavy; use care during assembly. Ensure unit is on level ground when adding fluids.

Specifications

Controls and Operation

Locate all controls: ignition key (if electric start), recoil starter handle, throttle/choke lever, fuel shut-off valve, auger engagement, and drive control.

Operation Steps: 1. Move unit to clear area. 2. Set throttle to FAST. 3. Engage choke for cold start. 4. Start engine. 5. Disengage choke as engine warms. 6. Engage auger and drive as needed.

Adjustments: Throttle for engine speed; choke for starting; auger height for snow conditions.

Starting & Stopping Procedures

Starting (Recoil): 1. Open fuel valve. 2. Set throttle to FAST. 3. Engage choke. 4. Pull starter cord slowly until resistance, then briskly. 5. Gradually disengage choke.

Starting (Electric): 1. Insert key. 2. Set throttle to FAST. 3. Engage choke. 4. Turn key to START. 5. Release when engine starts. 6. Disengage choke.

Stopping: 1. Release auger and drive controls. 2. Move throttle to SLOW, then OFF. 3. Remove key (if equipped). 4. Close fuel valve for storage.

Tip: Allow engine to idle for 30 seconds before stopping to cool.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures reliability. Perform checks before each use.

  1. Daily: Check oil level, fuel level, and for loose fasteners.
  2. Every 25 hours: Clean/replace air filter; check spark plug.
  3. Every 50 hours: Change oil; inspect drive belts.
  4. Every 100 hours: Replace spark plug; clean cooling fins.
  5. Seasonal: Lubricate controls; check tire pressure; inspect auger paddles.

WARNING! Disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance. Engine must be cool.

Engine Care & Tune-Up

Oil Change: Drain oil when warm. Refill with correct type and amount.

Air Filter: Clean foam element in soapy water, dry, and re-oil. Replace paper element if dirty.

Spark Plug: Gap to 0.030 inch. Replace if electrodes are worn or fouled.

Carburetor: Adjust idle and main jet screws per manual if engine runs poorly.

Fuel System: Use fuel stabilizer if storing over 30 days. Drain carburetor for long storage.

Storage Guidelines

End-of-season storage prevents fuel system issues.

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine 5 minutes.
  2. Drain carburetor bowl or run engine until fuel system is empty.
  3. Change oil and filter (if equipped).
  4. Remove spark plug, add 1 teaspoon oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to coat.
  5. Clean entire unit; lubricate pivot points.
  6. Store in dry, covered area.

CAUTION! Gasoline left in carburetor can form varnish and clog jets.
