Assembly Instructions

Unpack all parts and inspect for damage. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach handle: Align lower handle with deck brackets, secure with provided bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install upper handle: Connect to lower handle, secure knobs.
  3. Attach grass bag: Slide bag frame onto rear deck hooks; ensure secure latch.
  4. Install mulching plug (if using): Insert into rear discharge opening.

Controls and Operation

Handle Controls: Drive control lever, height adjuster lever, bag latch. Engine Controls: Throttle, choke, primer bulb, recoil starter.

Starting Procedure:

  1. Check oil and fuel levels.
  2. Move throttle to FAST position.
  3. Press primer bulb 3 times (cold engine).
  4. Pull recoil starter firmly.

Stopping: Move throttle to STOP. Remove key (if equipped).

Self-Propelled Operation: Squeeze drive control lever to handle to engage wheels; release to stop drive.

Cutting & Height Adjustment

Adjust cutting height before starting mower.

  1. Locate height adjust lever on each wheel (or single lever).
  2. Move lever to desired position (1=lowest, 6=highest).
  3. Ensure all wheels are at same height.
  4. For bagging: Install bag, ensure chute is closed.
  5. For mulching: Install mulching plug, close side discharge.
  6. For side discharge: Remove bag and plug, attach discharge chute.

Tip: Do not cut more than 1/3 of grass height at once. Keep blades sharp.

Engine Operation

Briggs & Stratton 675 Series engine: Air-cooled, 4-cycle, single cylinder.

  1. Fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline with minimum 87 octane. Do not use E85.
  2. Oil: Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 detergent oil. Check level before each use.
  3. Air Filter: Check monthly; clean or replace as needed.
  4. Spark Plug: Check annually; gap at 0.030 inches.
  5. Break-in Period: Operate first 5 hours at varying speeds without heavy load.
