Assembly Instructions

Unpack all parts and inspect for damage. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach handle: Align handle with mounting brackets, secure with provided bolts and washers.
  2. Install grass bag: Attach bag support frame to rear deck, hook bag onto frame.
  3. Attach discharge chute: Secure chute to side discharge opening with wing nut.
  4. Install mulch plug (if mulching): Insert plug into discharge opening.
  5. Add engine oil: Fill with SAE 30 oil to proper level on dipstick.
  6. Add fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).

WARNING! Do not add fuel or oil while engine is hot. Ensure all fasteners are tight before operation.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, complete final checks and adjustments.

  1. Check oil level: Ensure oil is at full mark on dipstick.
  2. Check tire pressure: Inflate all tires to 20 PSI.
  3. Adjust cutting height: Set lever to desired height (middle setting recommended for first mow).
  4. Test controls: Engage and disengage drive control; test blade control lever.

Handle Controls: Drive control lever, blade control lever, height adjustment lever.

Starting Procedure: 1. Push primer bulb 3 times (cold engine). 2. Set throttle to FAST position. 3. Pull recoil starter cord firmly. Stopping: Release blade control lever; move throttle to STOP position.

Operation: Engage drive control to propel mower. For self-propelled models, drive control engages wheels. Adjust speed with throttle. Always release blade control when crossing driveways or obstacles.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends mower life.

  1. Before each use: Check oil level, tire pressure, blade condition.
  2. Every 25 hours: Change engine oil, clean air filter, check spark plug.
  3. Every 50 hours: Replace air filter, sharpen or replace blade.
  4. Season end: Drain fuel or add stabilizer, clean underside of deck, lubricate moving parts.

Tip: Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Cutting Deck Adjustment

Adjust cutting height to match grass conditions.

  1. Stop engine and wait for blade to stop completely.
  2. Pull height adjustment lever outward and move to desired setting.
  3. Ensure all wheels are at same height for even cut.
  4. For bagging: Install grass bag. For mulching: Install mulch plug. For side discharge: Install discharge chute.

WARNING! Never adjust height while engine is running. Keep hands and feet away from cutting deck.

Safety Features

Storage & Winterization

Prepare mower for off-season storage to prevent damage.
